- The primary force behind Ace-Webs

- Server Hardware
The physical servers used by Ace-Webs are Intel Pentium Pro computers
with 196 MB of RAM. They are mounted in lock-down dual-fan racks.

- Operating System
The systems Ace-Webs use are running an internally modified version
of BSDI UNIX 3.0. The operating system and many core components
have been modified to support a fully virtual environment.

- Server Software
The system we use is currently running an internally modified
version of the Apache Web Server, which is an enhanced variant
of the NCSA Web Server. It also runs fully virtualized versions
of SMTP Server, POP3 Server, and FTP Server.

- The Ace-Webs system now has
multiple DS3 Fiber Optic Internet connections. The speed of this
connection is 45 Mbits/sec. A DS3 is about 27 times faster than
a T1 (1.5 Mbits/sec). Each server is connected to the hub by
a 10 Mbits/sec Ethernet connection.
